Meeting Notes - DC Trip
Packing
Fold your uniform neatly and place it in the bottom of your suitcase. Pants, then top, hat, and do not forget your marching shoes. Be sure to pack a white shirt, white socks, and grey shorts, as well. Then pack your remaining clothes around your uniform. When we get to the hotel in Washington, DC, immediately take your uniform out of your bag and HANG IT UP!
Uniform Check List
Please check this off as you pack - if you're not in uniform, you will not participate in the parade!
| Band | White Pants | White Top | White Marching Shoes | Hat | White Socks, Shirt, and Grey Shorts |
| Choir - Boys | Tux Pants | Jacket | Shirt & Vest | Bowtie | Black Shoes & Socks |
| Choir - Girls | Dress | Sash | Black Shoes | ||
| EVERYONE | Tour T-Shirt (For Pictures) |
Baggage
- Remember you can only have one carry-on bag and one check-in bag (plus your instrument). It is my recommendation that you pack a change of clothes in your carry-on bag, plus some toiletries to get you by. If for some reason your checked bag does not arrive, you will be more comfortable. Remember, too, that the carry-on bag must be small enough to meet regulations on the plane or you cannot take it. Also, do not bring anything that can be used as a weapon...pocket knives, files, nail ciippers, lighters, etc. For a complete list of items and baggage regulations, see the TSA web site for more information on travel safety and regulations.
- I encourage you to pick up some memorobilia in DC...but remember, it must fit in the same luggage you left with so be smart about what you buy.
Meals
All meals are provided per the itinerary with the exception of lunch. You will need to provide yourself with 4-6 meals, including lunches in DC, snacks, and anything inbetween meals. Bring enough money to accomodate this.
Instruments
Be sure that your instrument gets packed. Do not rely on somebody else packing it for you. Know where it is.
What *not* to bring
Please do not bring any PS2, Game Cube, Xbox, etc or any other video games or devices to hook up the the hotel TV. You did not pay all this money nor am I taking you all the way to DC so you can stay up all night playing video games!!
Rehearsal and Travel Preparation
We will have a rehearsal Monday, June 30th, from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m. Part of this rehearsal will be loading the busses and trailers with equipment and baggage. Please bring the bag you intend to check on the plane to rehearsal (parents/chaperones traveling with us, as well) so it can be loaded ahead of time. Remember: If you are NOT traveling with the band to Albuquerque, you are responsible for your own baggage and instruments.
Departure
Please meet at the middle school at 12:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 1st. We will eave promptly at 12:30 a.m. We will have two activity busses and one equipment trailer. We have to be able to fit all luggage on the two busses and the trailer. Take your carry on bag with you on the bus.
